Business Talks (2) - Business plans for the next year

2016.08.08. 09:47 aforizmágus

business-plan.jpgLesson TWO – Business plans for the next year

- What do you think this year will be like?

- In a commercial point of view?

- Yes. Will it be better or worse than last year?

- It will be the same.

*

- Will you have any new products?

- Yes.

- For example?

- For example the Blue Ray Player.

- What does it do? What can it do?

- It plays films that are 3D.

- When will you start selling it?

- Selling it will start in May.

- Is it an expensive thing?

- Not particularly.

- How many do you think you will sell till the end of the year?

- Two or three hundred.

- Will you advertise it on TV?

- No, we won’t. We will advertise it on the Internet.

*

- How do your actions work nowadays… looking at the expense-profit rate / relationship?

- Sometimes we can’t tell if people buy more things because of actions.

- Do you deal with change-actions?

- Yes, of course. About 15%.

- And what kind of goods are they?

- People usually bring back TVs, fridges and washing machines.

- And what do you do with them?

- We sell them to Electrocord. They will prepare them for recycling.

- What about smaller things? For example hair-dryers, microwave ovens, small radios, etc.?

- We have to store or collect them, but people don’t like to bring them back; they usually put them into trashcans.

*

- Any other new actions or campaigns nowadays?

- We’ll have an environmental friendly or eco-friendly group of products.

- Why are they like that?

- These products are very economical and making them is environmental friendly, too.

- What products are they?

- They are washing machines, microwave-ovens, freezers, dishwashers, irons and domestic appliances.

- How much will they be cheaper?

- This is an interesting question. These products are more expensive than other products, but using them can save a lot of money for buyers.

Business Talks (1) - Visiting an Exhibition in Las Vegas and What Are Restaurants in Las Vegas Like

2016.08.07. 22:59 aforizmágus

las_vegas.jpgA very short introduction for the series

I have been teaching English since 1993 (for more then two decades) and I have taught several managers at every kind of companies. I have trained engineers, business correspondents, contractors, secretaries, etc. I always keep the actual needs in focus, I mean if there is a business talk or a business letter to be written we always deal with the task ahead of us. It is very rare when general things come up in conversations. Now I will launch a series of some conversations about business and managers’ lives – in an easy and understandable way that can be a good and useful practice for learners of English.

Some words about GPSV – GPSV is a special an effective way of learning a language. It is not only a kind of exercise, but a special, personal approach of learning: in language learning it is learning vocabulary (V) and grammar (G) through personal (P) situations (S). This way the language learner has to learn only things he or she (personally) would use in special situations, in brief: the learner gives the theme and vocabulary and situations, and the teacher gives only the form of how to say things in the target language.

The only „disadvantage” of it is that the learner himself has to be willing to learn… But in this approach the learner has to learn only exactly what he wants to say and use in the target language!

The lessons of this series were made on special GPSV meetings – the most important characteristic of this meeting is a friendly chat, where the teacher asks then the student answers what he or she likes, then the teacher records and explain what he or she records.
